All neuropsychological testing and evaluations are done in person at our Penfield office.  The reminder message may say all visits will be done by telehealth but this does not apply to testing.

Delivering Expert Care with Compassion

We are passionate about helping people. We use our knowledge of brain function and psychological assessment to provide the most accurate diagnosis possible. Having an accurate diagnosis is crucial to ensuring that you or your child gets appropriate treatment and accommodations to be successful.

Our neuropsychologists collaborated to develop the ADHD/Learning Program at Penfield Psychiatry after observing the community’s need for these services. From experience, we realized that many people are struggling with attention disorders, but their issues were either undetected or misdiagnosed.

When is Testing Helpful?

  • If you suspect your child is underperforming in school and a diagnosis has not been established.
  • If you are reluctant to have your child medicated for ADHD without objective proof.
  • To help clarify diagnosis when ADHD symptoms don’t respond to treatment.
  • As an adult you suspect that you had problems with attention as a child that were never diagnosed.
  • You have a difficult to understand or treat mental health condition.
  • You want to know more about your personality to optimize functioning.
  • To know more about your cognitive strengths and weaknesses to guide future career decisions.

What makes our program unique?

Neuropsychologists are experts in brain- behavior function. Our doctors differ from general psychologists because they elected to continue their training after earning their doctorate degree by completing several years of specialized training in brain functioning, brain pathology, and assessment. This results in greater knowledge and understanding of different conditions that can impact thinking skills, such as attention, memory, and learning, and a broader repertoire of assessment tools at their disposal.

Our program is unique because of the additional expertise our doctors have as neuropsychologists to ensure the most accurate diagnosis for even the most complex cases.

Dr.’s Damann and Grace work collaboratively with treatment providers including psychiatric (medication prescribing) providers and psychological counselors/therapists, both of which are located at Penfield Psychiatry. We accept referrals from inside the practice, self-referrals, and external referrals. We also consult with pediatricians, family
physicians and primary care physicians in the community as needed.

Accurate diagnosis is essential for treatment planning and our neuropsychologists use structured interviews, questionnaires, and objective cognitive tests to ensure diagnostic certainty. We also advocate for our patient’s needs by providing individualized work or school accommodations based upon strengths and weaknesses identified in the evaluation.
